Sally H. Dang, O.D.

Dr. Dang brings a diverse educational and clinical background to the cities of Garden Grove. A graduate of Loma Linda University, Riverside, California, she earned her BS in Psychobiology. She went on to earn her doctorate in optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her clinical internships at the New England Eye Institute, the Boston VA Hospital, the Dorchester House Multi-disciplinary Medical Services Clinic in Boston, and the Omni Eye Center in Atlanta.

In addition to her lengthy training in optics, contact lenses, and ocular disease, Dr. Dang’s compassion for the elderly led her toward extensive clinical work in the field of low vision. She received honors for her work at the Low Vision/Vision Rehabilitation Unit at VA Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Dang continued her work with the visually impaired at the Santa Rosa Vision Rehabilitation Clinic in San Antonio, Texas.

Today, Dr. Dang practices the entire breadth of optometry. In addition to working in her private practices in Garden Grove and Westminster, she is a part-time faculty member at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), where she works with students in clinical patient care. Dr. Dang also works with the Garden Grove Lion’s Club and the students in the Garden Grove school district, and together with the Garden Grove Lions’ Eyeglass Program, hundreds of children in Garden Grove have been able to get free eye exams and eyeglasses.

Dr. Dang’s special interests include family eye care and low vision-blind rehabilitation.


Huong Trang, O.D.

Dr. Trang earned her Bachelor of Associates degree in Psychology and Social Behavior with a minor study in Biological Sciences from University of California, Irvine. She continued her professional education by earning a Doctorate of Optometry degree at New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Along with her degree, she completed her clinical externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Fresno, North End Community Health Clinic associated with Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Richlin Eye Associates in Beverly Hills and the New England Eye Clinic Special Populations rotation in Boston.

At the New England Eye Clinic Special Populations rotation, she was able to rotate through various clinical settings including special contact lens fittings, pediatrics, geriatrics at nursing homes and non-verbal patients at The Boston Home, a non-profit care center for adults with advanced multiple sclerosis and other progressive neurological diseases. From her clinical experiences, she has a broad knowledge of all aspects of optometry and has become versed in pediatric visual-related learning problems and vision therapy.

Dr. Trang’s special interests include family eye care, diabetic eye care, glaucoma and pediatric optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Trang balances her life with hobbies such as hiking, running and yoga. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her family, friends and pet husky, Hunter and chihuahua, Spotty.

Our History

Pacific Optometry Group, Inc. was founded by Dr. Sally H. Dang and Dr. Charles R. Soltes on April 1, 2000 in Garden Grove, California. Drs. Dang and Soltes are 1994 graduates of the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.


Dedication to Dr. Soltes

Dr. Charles R. Soltes, Jr., “Dr. Rob” was a dedicated Army officer, and an outstanding clinician, educator, and military optometrist.

Dr. Charles Robert Soltes, Jr., served in the 426th Civil Affairs Battalion, assisting the Iraqi people by making a variety of health care services accessible. On October 13, 2004, Dr. Rob was returning from a meeting with Iraqi health officials when a vehicle armed with an explosive device collided into his Humvee. As a result of this, Dr. Rob passed away at the age of 36.

In May, 2010, a bill (H.R. 4360), which designates the blind rehabilitation facility in Long Beach, California to be named after Major Charles Robert Soltes, Jr., O.D., Department of Verterans Affairs Blind Rehabilitation Center, was introduced into the U.S. House by Rep. John Cambell, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, and Rep. Bob Filner.

Dr. Soltes is truly an inspiration to us all. This tribute will bring about a lasting memory.
